City forgoes paying off water treatment plant to buy and destroy topless diner
ANDERSON
Bus passenger bounced after
tantrum over lost hair grease
An Atlanta man was removed from a bus traveling on Interstate 85 near Piedmont after he reportedly threw a fit over losing his hair grease. According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department, the 47-year-old passenger became despondent over the loss of the grease, fell prostrate on the floor of the bus and began cursing. As the bus driver attempted to talk with him, the man reportedly became increasingly irate.
The driver told authorities he called police to have the man removed from the bus out of fear for the other passengers, according to an incident report.
Karaoke singer attacked with sword
BELTON — An intoxicated Anderson County man said he was walking home from a night of drinking and karaoke when a woman in a passing car struck him in the face with a sword.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Steven Crumly, 36, said he left his house around 2 a.m. to take a walk, following an argument with his parents after his return from the bar. Crumly told authorities a small car approached him “head-on” at which point a woman leaned from the passenger side window and struck him in the head with a sword. He reportedly suffered a cut to the left side of his nose.
No arrests have been made.
Christian Exodus founder stepping down
The founder of Christian secessionist group, Christian Exodus, announced that he is stepping down as leader. In a written statement posted on the group’s Web site, Cory Burnell stated that the pressures of self-employment and family have taken a toll on his effective leadership in the movement. Burnell named his “right hand man” Keith Humphrey as Executive Director.
Christian Exodus plans to continue to move thousands of conservative Christians to strategic South Carolina counties to influence statewide policymaking. The group says it eventually hopes to infiltrate the S.C. State House on a large enough scale to attempt to secede from the United States and form a theocracy here.
City forgoes paying off water treatment plant to buy and destroy topless diner
LAVONIA, Ga. —The city of Lavonia, Ga., near the Georgia-South Carolina border, recently purchased the Cafe Risque topless diner off I-85 for $997,000. According to the Anderson Independent-Mail, Lavonia Mayor Ralph Owens told a standing room only crowd at city hall that instead of paying off the bond fund for a water treatment plant upgrade, the city planned to take advantage of “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to buy and “get rid of” the topless diner.
The crowd reportedly burst into cheer at the announcement and then followed the mayor to the diner to witness a tractor tear down all the signage and drag it into the center of the parking lot, where it was set ablaze.
ORANGEBURG
Woman who took dump on bank lawn sentenced to probation
A woman claiming incontinence made a foul deposit at the S.C. Bank and Trust on St. Matthews Road in Orangeburg. Patricia Ann Holifield, 37, pleaded guilty last week to indecent exposure, possession of a controlled substance and other charges stemming from her April 18 arrest for defecating on bank property.
Holifield was arrested after employees at the bank said they witnessed her mid-squat. According to an incident report, one employee reportedly approached the woman with a bucket and paper towels and ordered her to clean up the mess. A judge sentenced Holifield to 18 months of probation for each charge and ordered her to serve 90 days in jail on a shoplifting charge also related to her April arrest.

Baptist minister “defrocks” himself in bookstore, charged with indecent exposure
A Blacksburg, S.C. minister, who also served as a chaplain for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, has resigned following his arrest last week for allegedly exposing himself to a woman in a Burlington, N.C. bookstore.
Rev. Joseph Clayton, 70, was accused of flashing his wrinkled genitalia at a 21-year-old nurse who was browsing the shelves at Barnes and Noble. The woman says she obtained Clayton’s license plate number when he drove away from the store. North Carolina authorities first contacted Clayton by phone and the minister later turned himself in to Burlington police, according to reports.
