$6 Million Entitlement PDF Print E-mail
Written by Cameron Runyan
Wednesday, 07 May 2008

Friends,

I am sure you all recall our discussions about the $6 Million boondoggle back during my campaign for Columbia City Council. Well this is the beast that will not die. Your Columbia City Council is preparing to vote to give a big developer $6 Million of your money so that this project will be financially profitable......for the developer. Wouldn’t it be great if we could all get $6 Million of taxpayer money for our pet projects – talk about entitlements!

What is even worse about this project is that it is not only a $6 Million entitlement for a big developer, it will not only ruin the character of Five Points, it will not only lose taxpayer money in the long-term, but it will also cost millions more than has been advertised due to ancient concrete piping beneath the building, interest on bonds, lost revenues from businesses, massive environmental liabilities and other seen and unforeseen expenses that appear to arise as part of our city’s standard operating procedures these days.

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD

1. Visit this website and sign the petition. We must let City Council know that they WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE for the outcome of this project. If they vote for it, they own it.

2. Attend Wednesday morning’s Council meeting and let City Council know that the free-ride days of no accountability are over.

Sincerely,

Cameron Runyan
