MATT DUKE KINGDOM UNDERGROUND
Matt Duke, a singer-songwriter from New Jeresy will be releasing his second full length album Kingdom Underground on September 23, 2008. He started out playing piano at seven, and eventually picked up his mom’s guitar to teach himself how to play.
He started out playing coffee shops in Collingswood, NJ and eventually his parent’s bought him some studio time. A friend of his had an A & R class at Drexel University, and it was through that he was signed to Mad Dragon, the Drexel’s in-house record label. All four of his songs that were featured on a Mad Dragon compilation ended up on XM radio.
Five years later, Matt Duke is adding some diversity to the singer-songwriter genre. His song structure is less than basic and uses a variety of keys, from tack piano to Wurlitzers. His song “Rabbit” was even featured on Perez Hilton’s blog.
If you’re into the modern age singer-songwriters, you’ll enjoy tracks one through eight for sure. The last two tracks (the ones I enjoyed the most) bring a little more rock to the foreground. Check out Matt Duke at www.mattdukemusic.net and see for yourself.
