Gym Class Heroes just released their fourth album The Quilt on Decaydance September 9, 2008. Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy fame produced half of the 14 track album and even provided some back up tracks for a number of the songs. The other tracks were produced by either hip-hop producing duo Cool & Dre, Tricky Stewart (remember that “Umbrella” song) or Allstar.
What can you expect from this album? It is almost purely hip-hop with occasional tracks like “No Place to Run” that are obviously produced by a Fall Out Boy member. One thing they did right was start with “Guilty As Charged”, the best track on the album.
It also features Busta Rhymes, Estelle, The-Dream and Daryl Hall (if you don’t know who Daryl Hall is, go to YouTube and watch all 11 episodes of Yacht Rock, you won’t be disappointed).
I give it a 2.5 out of 5.
